February 22nd
The steel continues to go up piece by piece. There are now 2 cranes on-site in preparation for the setting of 2 90' beams that will run the length of the sanctuary. I am told that each beam weighs in at about 6 tons (12,000 pounds). This is now VERY visible from Ironwoood road and gives a feel for what people will see as they drive to and fro on Ironwood.... If you look closely you can see a cross that is being formed by the steel. There is one more horizontal piece on the left side needed to complete this.Tuesday, February 20, 2007

To the right is the start of the new sanctuary.... WOW !! The weather seemed almost balmy in the mid 30's. These steel beams look massive -- until you think of what it must feel like to be walking on these 20 to 40 feet in the air

Roof trusses are up over the Children's worship space.... These guys are tough ! It is 10 degrees out (warmed up from -6 ) and there are guys clearing off the piles of snow and other guys continuing to put up steel. Just think..... in about 8 months we will be able to have over 200 children worshiping in this space..... Keep the construction crews in your prayers as well as the children that will soon be coming here.

Much Easier to work on the ground! Here the roof trusses are being assembled into sections. These sections will be lifted up to the top of the building and attached to the structure this week. Check back to see this first roof piece in place!!Thursday, February 08, 2007

What a week! Low temps in the single digits with wind chills in the negative teens and lower. Not the best of conditions for working on a hill with steel! However, the guys have been working these past two days. The structure for the Children's wing is taking shape.
