March 30th

Lots happening on this beautiful day. The concrete floor that was poured yesterday was finished up today by making saw cuts to minimize future cracking. On the roof (what a great view from there) you can see the copula which is right over the chancel and then looking to the right you can see the roof being put in place (red) over part of the sanctuary and the white roof that is already installed over the children's wing.

March 29th

The floor for the Children's wing is being poured today. What a process! If you look up, you'll see that the duct work has also been started as well.

March 27th

The highest point of the church is now being roofed with stained pine timbers. This is the roof that is above the chancel. On the right side of this high roof will be windows that will allow sunlight to stream in onto the cross (for you theater folks, these windows will have motorized shades to allow the sanctuary to be darkened)

March 25th

This is what is looks like from the top of the ladder that is on the south property line. The space in front of the building will be part of the parking lot. The flat roof is installed over the children's wing (right side of the building). The exterior walls are installed on the East side and some on the North side. Nearly all of the sturctural steel is in place. WOW.........

March 23rd

Looking up in the sactuary at the decking and the steel joists. All the metal will be wrapped in sheetrock and painted. Its hard to get the perspective from a picture of what this space feels like --

March 20th

More of the heavy timbers are being lifted and put in place today. What a beautiful blue sky (and we are praying for more of that this week). Lots of other activity happening too with exterior walls being put in place on the North, East, and South walls.

March 17th

The roof trusses over the sanctuary are now in place and some of the wood decking as well.

March 16th

The steel framing shown here will contain the prayer room and the library. This is the south west end of the building.

March 14th

The wooden support beams in the sanctuary are being placed here. Wooden beams will run the length of the sanctuary leading your eyes to the wooden cross above the alter on the chancel.

March 13th

Here is the first of the wooden structural timbers -- many layers of laminated fir -- that will be the core of the roof structure above the chancel. These will be prefabed on the ground and later lifted into place and attached to the steel support members that are already in place.

March 11th

This steel stud wall in the front is where the prayer room, the library, and pastoral office will be. Behind that is the roofline for the sanctuary.

March 9th

Up on the roof ..... there are steel post, girders, trusses, decking everywhere. The frame for our new ministry space is nearly completed. I love the angles and shapes that are being brought together...

March 7th

Windows were installed today on both the north wall (shown) and the east wall in the children's class rooms. The bubble in the middle is a tarp that hot air is being blown under to thaw and then dry out the ground so we can pour the concrete floor. Lots of activity today and even though the temps were below freezing, there was sun and no wind. It actually felt warm !

March 5th

The 2 ninety foot trusses were lifted into place today and the cross pieces were installed. Two cranes were used and dispite the bitterly cold wind, the crews made this look easy. This is the view from behind the sanctuary looking through the building toward the South East.

March 2nd

Two 90' trusses have been fabricated and are waiting to be hoisted (by two cranes) into place once all of the surrounding structure is in place. These run the full length of the sanctuary and will be the primary support for the sanctuary roof. It is pretty muddy out there.....

February 28th

Standing in the Early Childhood Program (ECP) office (under roof !) looking across the children's wing that is nearly all framed in.
